ファッションエディター亜利沙は銀座のコリドー街でひとり飲み。

「あぁ、またお酒飲んじゃった・・・」

「サングリアもいいけど、カバもどうだい？」

突然、声をかけてきたのは明るいチャコールグレーのスーツを着た男だった。

裏地はなく、夏用のサマースーツだ。

ボディラインに吸い付くようなシルエットは、おそらくオーダーであつらえたもの。

どことなく着こなしがブリティッシュ。

袖口を見ると本切羽仕様で、ボタンホールの糸を一箇所だけ色を変えている。

靴は・・・シンプルな黒のプレーントゥ。

トゥがぽってりしているところを見ると、SANDERS (サンダース)かしら。

渋谷、六本木の勘違い男のように、丈は短く、シルエットはとにかく細く、とんがった革靴をはく輩とは大違い。

この男、おしゃれをわかっているっ。

 

いつもなら、心の中で「うざいやつ」といいながら無視を決め込むものの、男の着こなしと紳士な雰囲気が気になり、相手と視線を絡めてしまった。そして何より、男が発したカバが気になり、反応してしまった。

「カバ？」

男はニヤっと笑い、「動物園にいるだろ？」。

私は心の中で「ん？　何言ってんの？　この人バカ？」と呆然。

男は軽い調子で続ける。

「いま俺のことバカって思ったろ？　ちがう俺が言ったのはカバだ。カバってのは、スペインのスパークリングワインのこと。ほれっ」

黄金のきらめきが湧きたつグラスをかかげ、こちらを見る男。

よく見ると、顔もなかなか。年齢は35といったところか。

「若い子がさっきから小難しい顔をしてたから、おじさんがくだらない話をしてやろうかと思ってさ。迷える子羊にアドバイスを授け、酒も与えるのが、酒場の大人の流儀だからな」

こちらが戸惑っている間に、男は話を勝手に進める。

「店員さんさ、ちょっとグラス１個くれるか？　こんな時間に一人で飲んでいるってことは君はイケる口だろ？　まぁ飲みなさい」

ぐっと出されるグラス。まるで天の川のように泡がきらめいている。

会釈して、手に取り、一口。

「あ、おいしいかも」

口から漏れる感想。

それを聞いた男は、くしゃくしゃっと笑ったのだ。

「少しは、表情がほぐれたな。よかったよかった。おれは隆弘。よろしく」
